I would ideally like to work as an occupational therapist in an inpatient infant/toddler unit in a children's hospital. I'm looking into:
California, San Diego or Bay Area
North Carolina: Asheville, maybe other areas
Tennessee: Nashville. Probably not Memphis
Anybody know of awesome inpatient infant/toddler units in those areas or others? I'm definitely overwhelmed trying to figure it all out.

Hi Karen,
Children's hospitals are great places to work - and extremely dynamic! However, if you are really interested in that setting I would recommend that you spend a year with an EI or preschool program first. It would give you a chance to develop your skills in assessing and intervening with kids from a developmental perspective. Once they are in the hospital it gets more complex with the illness and the parent's stress and the emotional trauma of being in a hospital all piled ON TOP of the developmental stuff. It is do-able for a new grad - but I personally think you would enjoy the hospital more if you had the basic experience under your belt. Anyway, that's just my $.02 based on supervising new therapists in a children's hospital. You'll do well whatever you choose - and good luck!

I know there was an OT opening for NICU in Hoag Hospital (Newport Beach, CA). - I'm not sure if it was filled or not.
Sometimes these openings are not available online and a call to HR might work better.
Good luck!
